Unexpected Blessings along your Journey

I’ll show you where to go,
I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest places —
You’ll be like a well-watered garden,
a gurgling stream that never runs dry
Isaiah 58:11

Let’s think about God and gardens. He designed a garden named Eden; He was betrayed in a garden named Gethsemane, and He is buried in yet another garden. I think God likes gardens. But He doesn’t just like gardens – He thinks our hearts are His garden.

Walking this breast cancer journey brings mourning and lots of news of doom. God wants us to know His message of joy. He wants us to have a praising heart. And only He can take the places where we feel all alone and walking in a wilderness, and turn them into Eden.

You don’t understand now what I am doing, but it will be clear enough to you later.”
John 13:7

We are women with breast cancer. But we are also daughters, friends, probably mothers, and possibly sisters. Our lives intersect many others lives, and God may be using our breast cancer walk in order to touch them in a specific way. His perspective is always so much larger than ours, and His bottom line is our hearts, not our happiness.

I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
Isaiah 55:8

So, put on your God-shaped glasses and just believe that He is going to bring blessings out of this terrible disease – for you and for others. It is how He works, all the time.

For the Lord will comfort [your name]
And He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song or instrument of praise.

Isaiah 51:3 (AB)

May God, who puts all things together,
makes all things whole…,
Now put you together, provide you
with everything you need to please him,
Make us into what gives him most pleasure,
by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Messiah.
All glory to Jesus forever and always!
Oh, yes, yes, yes
